Origami CD case diagrams and tutorials

How to fold the paper case:
1. Fold the left and right sides (lines labelled "1" and "2").
2. Fold the bottom edge up to the line labelled "3". Then fold it back. This part will be the pocket.
3. Fold the top edge down to the line labelled "4" and then fold it back. Then fold the top edge down the the line labelled "5" and then fold it back. This will make the spine and top flap.
4. Spread the sides of the pocket to the sides to create "wings". Beginners can do this by folding lines "6" and "7" (first wing) and then lines "8" and "9" (second wing). Or, fold "6" and "8" and then "7" and "9". The fold lines may be off slightly depending on your printer.
5. Tuck the wings behind the front part of the pocket. The two letter "A"s should touch each other and the two letter "B"s should touch each other. Flatten the pocket. Your CD will go in the pocket.

iphone 5 origami case diagrams and tutorials

A few weeks ago I saw in my Google Analytics that someone came to this blog looking for "Origami iPhone case". As I have a Origami CD case, and several posts on iPhone/iPod Touch games... it was a page hit. But I thought:if I can have a neat CD case, I can also design a neat origami case for an iPhone! Said and... done. It took a few tries (and a few days), as you can see below. The main problem was that the first worked by luck, and the second, too. But the third didn't, and it took a while of disassembling to solve all problems.

Bee my honey !

Post image for Bee My Honey!
This origami bee was born a fly!
A couple of years ago my friend Nancy Tschorn asked if I could fold half dozen origami bees to give as a gift to her twelve-year-old beekeeping grandson. My challenge was that the only origami bees I had seen were quite complex. Even if I could locate diagrams, making one complex bee would take me a while.

Calculating Change: Why Origami Is Critical to New Drugs: The Folded Universe

It's no surprise that Erik Demaine counts juggling among his hobbies. The 24-year-old--a home-schooled child prodigy who became M.I.T.'s youngest professor ever at age 20--picks off one arcane math problem after another. "I work on anything I consider fun," he says. "I'm a geek." Demaine, who has already co-written more than 100 papers, specializes in the computational theory of folded structures, most notably the mathematics underlying origami.

how to make an origami

If you are a beginner at paper folding and would like to learn to make origami, then this site is for you! There are some great simple models for you to try, and some harder ones for when you get more confident, as well as all of the favourites: the crane, pelican, lily, butterfly…
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. If you're looking for a place to start, then start here:
Get some paper! Very simple!
Any paper will do, you can use special origami paper if you like, or ordinary printer paper. Some models work better with origami paper, but most will look just as good with plain paper. And here's a tip: If you have some, use gift wrapping paper.
Gift wrap comes in many thicknesses; so some might not be practical, but if you have some spare gift wrap, give it a try: you can get some beautiful effects from patterned paper, and most is a little thinner than printer paper, which is a plus when you are learning origami. It makes the folds easier, and the model stays intact better.

So let's get started! First choose a model that you think you would like to make.
